Apple's Supply Chain Unit Economics

Abstract

Apple combines proprietary product architecture with externally supplied fabrication, components, assembly, and distribution. The economic question is therefore not simply who supplies Apple, but where incremental product value is captured after component inflation, yield loss, logistics, warranty, development expense, and working-capital requirements. The supplied evidence indicates a strong revenue and premium-mix setup but materially less certainty around product-level costs, supplier award shares, current capacity, and teardown-verified bills of materials. The base case assumes FY2027 revenue of $517.0 billion and EPS of $9.50, rising to $559.9 billion and $10.70 in FY2028. Those outputs support a constructive operating view but a more balanced equity view at the source report's $330.24 market snapshot. The central monitoring variables are iPhone units, realized ASP, normalized product gross margin, inventory conversion, and qualified supplier capacity.
